Fellowships honor educators for their exemplary leadership and commitment to the improvement of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education. The 76 distinguished educators appointed as Fellows will serve 18-month terms, during which they will pursue projects of their choosing to improve undergraduate science and math education. Fellows will serve as leaders on campus to assist colleagues in implementing SENCER approaches both in courses and broadly, across curricula. Each fellow will affiliate with a SENCER Center for Innovation, through which they will be able to connect with colleagues with common interests and contribute to the leadership and direction of the SENCER project. SENCER Featured and Emerging Model courses and programs embody the SENCER ideals, structuring curricula around topics of civic consequence to increase civic responsibility and interest in science topics. This year’s series represents a variety of adaptations of the SENCER approach, from a multi-institution, international partnership concerning HIV/AIDS to a general education cluster of courses focused on food. Five of the models – AIDS Research, Food for Thought, Introductory Statistics with Community-Based Projects, Life Science in Context, and The Science of Sleep – were created by SENCER alumni. More>
