About SENCER Leadership Fellow Katayoun Chamany

Katayoun Chamany has developed successful courses that teach biology in deeply socially and politically contextualized ways.  Her intellectual accomplishments and innovative approaches to encouraging learning and her desire to expand SENCER-inspired course offerings at the New School are just some of the reasons why she has been selected as a SENCER Leadership Fellow.  SENCER is especially interested in her work in the area of stem cell biology and policy (embodied, in part, by her connections to the New York Stem Cell Foundation and its work).

As a SENCER Leadership Fellow, Katayoun will be helping to expand the SENCER course offerings at Eugene Lang College, focusing the SENCER community’s attention on issues involving stem cell research and policy, contributing to the backgrounder series and other dissemination activities, and exploring connections in global education.

Katayoun was elected to the inaugural class of Leadership Fellows in July 2008.
