2012 Washington Symposium
and Capitol Hill Poster Session
March 11 - 13, 2011
Washington, DC
The Washington Symposium and Capitol Hill Poster Session is designed to serve the needs of alumni in our community, many of whom have expressed a desire to report on their innovative efforts in STEM education reform, but who have been frustrated by the lack of venues. Since its inception in 2006, the Symposium has served as an opportunity for alumni to connect with colleagues and congressional representatives to share their accomplishments.
The annual Washington Symposium and Capitol Hill Poster Session provides an opportunity for members of the SENCER community, and now those involved in NCSCE’s GLISTEN project, to present work to colleagues and Congress and to engage in discussions on how to continue to improve STEM education for all students.
In addition to meetings with congressional representatives and members of their staffs, the program includes a welcome reception at the Koshland Science Museum, a poster session on Capitol Hill, presentations on campus work, and discussions on areas of future growth. Keynote addresses will be provided by the hosts of Talk of the Nation: Science Friday, and the program will showcase examples of SENCER campus work that bring to life best practices recommended by seminal reports of the National Academies.
