2012 Washington Symposium
and Capitol Hill Poster Session
Lodging and Travel
Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel and lodging. Below are suggestions for most convenient neighborhoods to the Symposium, a link to the Washington DC Metrorail and Metrobus system, and online resources for hotels.
Lodging Considerations
and Neighborhoods
Accommodations within the district will be most convenient to all Symposium activities. The following areas are both easily accessible by metro and safe: Capitol Hill, Dupont Circle, Penn Quarter, Farragut North, Farragut West, and Foggy Bottom.
While the accommodations in Virginia and Maryland are more economical, please keep in mind the commute will be longer. Popular neighborhoods in Alexandria and Arlington, Virginia include Courthouse, Ballston, Clarendon, Falls Church, Pentagon City, and King Street. Maryland neighborhoods include Bethesda, Friendship Heights, Silver Spring and Rockville.

Local Transportation
The WMATA (Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority) website, www.wmata.com, contains maps, schedules, and information for all of your metro needs during your stay. The Metrorail system is especially convenient and has stops within two blocks of Symposium activities:
Koshland Science Museum: Gallery Place/Chinatown (Lines: Red, Yellow, Green)
Capitol Hill: Capitol South (Lines: Orange, Blue)
