The SENCER Centers for Innovation

The SENCER Centers for Innovation (SCI) are regionally distributed organizations that offer programming and support for current members of the SENCER community and people new to SENCER.  The SCIs are designed to fulfill the needs of the community throughout the year on a local level and to offer symposia and workshops that complement national events, such as the annual SENCER Summer Institute (SSI) and the Washington Symposium and Capitol Hill Poster Session.  The Centers are multi-institutional groups with a common commitment to improving the quality of STEM teaching and learning by using the SENCER approach.

The SCIs – New England, Midatlantic, South, Midwest, and West – conduct at least two workshops or symposia per year that are hosted by an institution in the region, provide local SENCER Senior Associates and other experts who are available for on-campus consultations, support the work of SENCER Leadership Fellows, and offer guidance on the development of new SENCER courses and programs.  SCI programs are open to participants around the country, but are specifically designed to address the needs and interests of the regional community.

Each SCI is directed by a Leadership Council, whose members represent institutions throughout the regional area.  All Leadership Councils reserve two spaces for Leadership Fellows in the region, who serve on a rotating basis based on interest and availability.  SENCER and the SCIs welcome the involvement of new institutions and individuals.  We invite you to learn more about our activities, resources, and approaches by exploring each Center’s website and by contacting us directly.
