SENCER Alumna Awarded Funding from Applera Foundation
Rebecca Reiss, associate professor of biology at New Mexico Tech, has received support to further develop a website for CSI:DNA, a forensic science course she presented on at SSI 2008. CSI:DNA exposes students to molecular genetics and is part of a summer high school mini-course program at New Mexico Tech. Reiss will use the funding to develop a web module with a tutorial and quiz, a 3-D virtual crime scene and a 3-D forensic science lab where students will be able to test DNA from evidence gathered at the crime scene. The primary audience for the completed module will be high school teachers and students but anyone will be able to use the module once completed and launched.
