Thousands of Montana’s school children and college students know Garon Smith as ‘the Wizard’ who demystifies and explains science with riveting clarity, but we in the SENCER program also know Garon as a deeply serious educational innovator who is committed to reducing the alarming attrition of good students from science courses.  Smith has served as a senior associate, core faculty member, and visiting scientist in the SENCER National Office.

As a SENCER Leadership Fellow, Garon will help connect SENCER to the National Conferences of Undergraduate Research (NCUR) program, whose national meeting he will be chairing in 2010.

Garon was elected to the inaugural class of Leadership Fellows in July 2008.
