About SENCER Leadership Fellow Lisa Pike

With her colleague Lynn Hanson, Lisa Pike has developed an innovative project focused on the biology of mercury accumulation in freshwater fish that has inspired other faculty and many students to think about the connections between science learning, communication, and public policy.  She has contributed an article about her work to Science and Civic Engagement: An International Journal.

As a SENCER Leadership Fellow, Lisa will be expanding her SENCER work with a focus on pre-service teacher education and applying new pedagogical approaches to the “Environment in Context” initiatives in South Carolina.

Lisa was elected to the inaugural class of Leadership Fellows in July 2008.
