About SENCER Leadership Fellow Phil Mason
Phil Mason’s association with SENCER has yielded significant results during his tenure at Fairmont State University campus and nationally. “Coal in the Heart of Appalachian Life”—a SENCER-inspired learning community created by the faculty team Phil organized for the 2003 SENCER Summer Institute—earned developmental support from the National Science Foundation and was one of the first projects emanating from the SENCER program to be designated a SENCER national model. Phil has represented Fairmont at several SENCER dissemination events and has continued to support he development of new SENCER initiatives on campus.
As a SENCER Leadership Fellow, Phil will support new course development, offer consultations to colleagues from other campuses in the region, and advise the national program on ways to strengthen and make more durable the reforms that have already begun.
Phil was elected to the inaugural class of Leadership Fellows in July 2008.
